The Rectory

The venue that understands family. There is something unique about a venue that is family owned, something that adds a whole new dimension to the success of a wedding.

Family members go the extra mile; they want the absolute best for you on your wedding and will show the same concern for you as they do themselves. Proprietors Sean and Teresa O’ Brien of The Rectory decided this was the approach they wanted to bring to their venue. The solace of knowing your venue’s management understands family; the blessings, complications and the ultimate importance - is priceless.

The O’Brien family transformed The Rectory in the coastal village of Glandore in 1993. They took the classic Georgian building to a new stage in its long 200 year existence, combining its vast historical significance with the ultimate in modern luxury.

“Whether it is a beautiful summer day, arriving to a champagne reception with canapés on the lawn or a crisp autumn day, soaking in the warmth of the staff and peaceful sea views, The Rectory offers something totally different,” Michelle O’Brien of The Rectory says.

The Rectory is nestled in woodland setting overlooking the scenic West Cork harbour of Glandore, an area considered to be one of Ireland’s most beautiful sea inlets. Known for the spectacular scenery, friendly and relaxed atmosphere and strong influence on Irish poetry, a wedding at The Rectory is unforgettable. It is a small, intimate and completely exclusive venue catering for a maximum of 100 guests with an additional 60 for the evening.

The O’Brien family and the staff at The Rectory make sure every detail of your day runs smoothly, just like your own family would. Whether you are coming from Cork city or Australia, from the time you reserve The Rectory to the day itself, nothing will be overlooked.  You will not pay any venue hire fees or service charges and will be greeted with a red carpet and warm West Cork welcome.

“Every day is unique at the Rectory.  As this is a family run business the attention and needs of the couple are always a high priority. With a policy of only one reception a day your privacy is guaranteed,” Michelle says.

One of the main considerations of guests who come to The Rectory is its reputation for the highest standards in food. When you indicate a fillet of beef on the menu, it will be exactly that, as opposed to the typical carvery-style sliced roast beef. The large bay windows of the restaurant afford excellent views over the lawn and Glandore coastline making the diner feel they are eating in the garden, within the comforts of the exquisite dining rooms.

“Whether you are looking for the formal black tie wedding or the casual chilled out informal day the friendly Rectory staff and O’Brien family will be there to cater for your every need.”
