Holly Valance tied the knot with billionaire and English property tycoon Nick Candy in a very lavish, over-the-top wedding in Beverly Hills. Keeping with the OTT theme, the bride, 29, wore an hugely extravagant, dramatic gown by J'Aton Couture and a lace floor-length veil. It came embellished with a full, meringue style feather-like skirt. Nick kept things simple and chic with a navy blue tuxedo by D&G, and guests were entertained by California Girl Katy Perry.
The Australian actress has been met with a lot of criticism for her ‘more is more’ look.
What do you think of the possibility that meringue wedding dresses just might well be back in vogue?

The Saturday’s singer and generally lovely Irish lass Una Healy shared a short video of her summer wedding today with fans on Twitter. Una married hubby Ben Foden in Kilshane House, Tipperary, earlier this year, just four months after giving birth to her daughter Aoife Belle. Both girlies were only gorgeous.
Tipperary-based wedding videographers Star Systems (WeddingsOnline.ie suppliers of course - wonder if Una's a Wollie??) produced the DVD for the couple.

Marchesa Resort 2013, via Style.com
The innately stylish Blake Lively worked directly with Georgina Chapman, co-founder of Marchesa, to design her own wedding dress. The actress married boyf of one year Ryan Renolds in a ceremony in South Carolina last month, and the much awaited pictures are to appear in the December edition of Martha Stewart Weddings. Guests were treated to tunes from Florence & the Machine who preformed a presumably pretty trancey version of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' during the ceremony.

Anne Hathaway hasn't had it easy for the last few years, but it seems she's finally found her dark knight in shining armour. On Saturday Hathaway made it all legal with long time boyfriend Adam Shulman in a lavish ceremony in the Big Sur, California, and we think she looked incredible in her old-world style, custom-made Valentino gown. Check out the sketch below and see the real thing here - Anne Hathaway Wedding US Magazine.
Now if we could just understand why she hates us so much?

Cake pictured presumed to not be actual cake | Photo by Rubistyle Photography | Cake by The Cake Creator | See full wedding here
The Irish Indo reported on Sunday that a €100,000 tab for Ciara daughter-of-former-billionaire-Sean Quinn's 2007 wedding was charged to the Quinn Group. This would be shocking enough, except to find that the €100,000 cheque was reportedly just for the cake. The CAKE! Apparently the couple have some sweet tooth and had the estimated €250-per-slice cake flown in from New York, possibly first class.
So, with that in mind we want to know: How much are you budgeting for your wedding cake?
PS Check out one of our cake suppliers, Rosanna from Cakes & Co, discussing this on Moncreiff, Newstalk yesterday (Part 3)

The latest Central Statistics Office (CSO) stats have shown that the 'Mrs' is officially 'in'. Marriage is up 10% on 2006 according to the 2011 figures, with over 1.7 million people in Ireland currently wed. And as if our proverbial 'clocks' weren't already aware, from the age of 32 the number of married women in Ireland outnumber the number of single women (34 for men).
The study, reported by The Journal, notes that remarriages have also seen a significant increase of 550% from 2006-2011.

La Caverna is the newest addition to our wedding venue directory, and we're delighted to be able to share with you such a great alternative wedding venue in the city (that city being Dublin) Their newly renovated 300 year old wine cellar acts as their warm and intimate dining area for weddings and events, and they specialise in Italian fare and fine wines. There's definitely a bit of a Devil Wears Prada theme going on on the WeddingsOnline.ie Blog today. Not only did Anne Hathaway get hitched this weekend, but 'actor's actor' Stanley Tucci (aka harsh-but-sweet stylist Nigel) also tied the knot with fiancé Felicity Blunt, whom he met through her sister Emily on the set of the fashionista flic! Phew! Anyway the low-key London affair was all about not one but four white Nanette Lepore gowns, showing that the bridesmaids-in-white trend is still on the go in London at least.
Daily Mail Online reports that Steve he'll-always-be-Mr-Pink-to-me Buscemi was Best Man, and the couple had a cake made of cheese. Nom.

We are working on a shoe article for tomorrow and while having a little nosey around our favourite blogs, we came across Ali, and her insanely beautiful handmade Vivienne Westwood platforms. Now, we're very much of the 'higher the better' heel crowd, so these shoes, as featured on UK wedding blog Rock My Wedding, pretty much sang to us from our screens. Her entire look is perfection, but we can't help but feel that the shoes were the stars of the show on this one. We salute you Ali.

A 'marrying' of style caught our attention recently when wedding stationery designers Pretty as a Picture were commissioned by new bridal store Little White Dress to design one heck of a pretty website. The site is a joy to browse around, made all the smilier (smilier?) with PAAP's beautiful hand-painted graphics supporting LWD's vintage/couture style stock.
Little White Dress designers include: Sanyukta Strestha, Yolan Cris, Temperley London, Tobi Hannah, Lara Hannah and more.

Dress: Designed by bride | Photographer: Love Katie & Sarah | Wedding: Gold Yarra Valley Wedding on Ruffled
Last week we shared our top bridal trends for 2013. Just like every year on the bridal catwalks, there are trends we love and that completely take our breath away, but at the same time there are bridal trends which we just can't see translating to the aisle. One in particular is the colourful wedding dress. We're just not convinced a bride will give up her one day to wear a big white (or off-white) wedding dress! So today we decided to take a look at some of the brides who dared to not wear white, and who set the trend for others to go against the norm. From gold to green to grey, these ladies made a statement on their wedding day, without compromising style or their moment in the spotlight.

Dress: Jenny Packham | Photographer: Caught the Light | Wedding: A Glamorous English Wedding on 100 Layer Cake
Many of the gowns from Jenny Packham's Ready to Wear collection would make stunning and original wedding dresses. This emerald green dress was worn as the bride's reception dress, but almost made more of an impact than her white and grey ceremony gown. We can only imagine the wow moment if she had appeared at the end of the aisle in this dress, but would it be 'wedding enough' for you?

Dress: Jenny Packham | Photographer: Jonas Peterson | Weddings: An Elegant Australie Wedding on Once Wed
Ever since we saw this bride a couple of months ago we've had a serious girl crush on her. Originally we were all about her top knot hair style, then we couldn't get her no-back, pink sequin Jenny Packham gown out of our heads. This is how to rock a pink gown. Part Great Gatsby, part boho and part rock n' roll bride, there's nothing about this look that's not unforgettable.

Dress: Vera Wang | Photographer: We Heart Photography | Wedding: W Hotel Wedding on Style Me Pretty
This Vera Wang gown is made for the bubbliest of brides. Not only is it a beautifully feminine silhouette and the most decadent of materials, but it looks like so much fun to wear! This dress could never be mistaken for anything other than an incredible wedding gown, so may not be as daring as going for gold, but the candyfloss element to it certainly gives it an edge, doesn't it?

Dress: Myrtle Ivory, Dublin | Photographer: Siobhan Byrne Photography | Wedding: Bowled Over Beauty on The Bridal Lounge Blog
When we saw Pippa on The Bridal Lounge's blog Wedding Belles, we felt our hearts go all warm and fuzzy. She looked like a serious siren in her Gemy Couture dress from Myrtle Ivory alone, but pairing it with striking red nails and lips was a stroke of style genius. Pippa, we salute you.

Dress: Pam Shorley, Fashion Crimes | Photography: Scarlet O'Neill | Wedding: Sparkly Sequin Wedding Dress on Wedding Chicks
This bride, although she obviously didn't know it at the time, is all of our favourite trends for 2013 bridal all rolled into one! Colour? Check. Statement back? Check. Long sleeve? Yep. Vintage hair? Check. Sparkle? Check times a million. We love that she wanted to show off her tatts, and the long sequin sleeves are the perfect to balance off the sexiness of the back. Stunning!
So what do you guys think? Would you go for a dress in a different colour? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Like a lot of brides-to-be out there who don’t have a father to give them away for whatever reason, I’ve had to ponder the question, who will give me away? I count myself very lucky to have grown up surrounded by fantastic male figures between uncles and cousins, so my predicament isn’t trying to find someone but picking the right person.
When I got engaged first, I asked an uncle to give me away but over the past few weeks he has backed out, with no hard feelings on my part at all. It’s not an easy task and my uncle just didn’t feel that he would be comfortable on the day having to speak to a room full of people, which I can understand completely. I certainly couldn’t do it! I want him to look forward to my wedding and enjoy the day, not dread the thoughts of it.
For me, the person has to be someone I’ve known all my life, who’s been around and taken part in all the major milestones and, most importantly, someone who I feel on the day will make me feel at ease. I think about that last moment when I’m waiting to walk up the aisle, bridesmaids are gone and it’s just you and this other person. I want someone who I can look at and think – ‘I’m glad you are the one who is here with me.’
I know a lot of you will think why not have your mam give you away? I also think this is a lovely idea and my friend Leanne, who was in my last blog post, did that at her wedding, but it’s just not for me or my mam.
I think unless you’re in the position where you have to ask someone to give you away you don’t realise how emotional it can be, or is that just me? It’s a declaration of sorts, like standing up and saying this person is important to me. So, over the past week or so I’ve sat and thought about it and made my decision, which to be honest really wasn’t a hard one. All I need to do now is pick up the phone and ask the question. I’ll keep you posted on what the response is...

Ever since Kim Kardashian’s amazingly beautiful, black-and-white-meets-monochrome-meets-Hollywood wedding to Chris Humphries last year, everyone in the wedding world has tried to imitate her (not the whole 72 days part though!)! So, if you want to follow in this Kardashian’s footsteps, and you’re maybe looking for a different spin on things or you just happen to love playing the game, a chess/ checkmate-themed wedding can be a fantastic way to reveal your personality to all of your guests. Plus, black and white is oh-so-very classy and can be achieved in a variety of different and ingenious ways throughout the ceremony and the reception! Show everyone that you “made the right move” (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves) by marrying ‘the one’.

Love these black and white Vans that the groom and his groomsmen will be comfortable in all day... And, if you like them so much, why not get a pair for you and your 'maids?!
