  • White Christmas

I will never forget sitting in the Seattle airport last December, vowing that I never wanted to see snow again. Trying to make our way from Dublin to my Washington home was pure travel hell as the whole of northern America was under several feet of snow. We were layed over in NY, San Francisco and Seattle, where finally my dad was forced to drive over the treacherous mountain passes for 5 hours to collect us, because all flights were cancelled until after Christmas. Even though I have spent the whole of 2009 hating the white stuff, as Christmas rolls around...dare I say it...I kind of miss my white Christmas.

This wedding is perfection as far as I am concerned. Not only does it have amazing details and the dress is to die for, but you can also sense that the bride and groom and their guests were having a great time. Which to me is more important than anything! Photographed by the fabulous Marie Labbancz.

I couldn't resist these winter inspired palettes from Ritzy Bee Blog and Lucky Me Blog. They are simply stunning, and would work perfect for a Christmas wedding.

  • Blue Inspirations

    Wednesday 9 December 2009 - Uncategorized - Tags: blue

Admittedly, I am slightly obsessed with blue. I get a little weak in the knees when I see things like the below, I just think there is something so classic and elegant about shades of blue, on their own or combined. It was not until I started planning my wedding that I realised how much I actually adore the colour, everthing I liked was blue...I wanted blue flowers, blue bridesmaids and even considered having a navy blue sash on my dress (but was talked out of it by my incredibly honest sister).

This wedding flawlessly marries each detail to their vintage theme. The bride is the best part (the shoes and lips are to die for!), but I have to say that the table numbers is a close second.

  • Winter Wedding Week: Blue

    Thursday 3 December 2009 - Uncategorized - Tags: winter-weddings, blue

Blue is my favourite colour, which is why I had it at my own wedding. Nothing gets me going quite like a beautiful palette of blues (ok that may be a bit of a stretch, but I mean on the subject of colours!). I also think there is something about blue that transcends seasons, it can work for summer but just as easily work for winter, reminding one of icey landscapes and frosty mornings.

  • Winter Wedding Week: Red and Gold

    Tuesday 1 December 2009 - Uncategorized - Tags: red, gold, winter-weddings

Because it's officially Christmas time, I thought we should celebrate with a week of winter colour palettes. I love to see fresh ideas for cliched themes, and though the Christmas wedding might not be able to completely escape the Christmas stereotypes (and personally I think it would be a crime not to include at least some holly or mistletoe), please... for the sake of winter brides everywhere try and avoid garish red paired with forest green and any sort of singing/moving/rotating Santa figurines. The winter wedding is the perfect chance to think outside the box and bring your personality to a timeless tradition.

Can't you just see this perfect colour scheme in a snow covered chalet in the Alps? (or in Lucan...or whatever snowless Irish county you find yourself in)
